Sector: Ecclesiastical
Wellwood Leslie have undertaken a significant amount of ecclesiastical work over the years and through the merger of McLean Architects with the practice in 2017 cemented and expanded ranging from newbuild, alteration and extension, refurbishment, quinquennial reports, fabric repair work, conservation work and interior design.
Sector Lead:
Stephen is the ecclesiastical sector lead for the practice with over 20 years’ experience working within the sector. Over that period Stephen has experience working with congregations, churches, and other Christian based organisations through a range of projects including new-builds, conversions and substantial alterations.
Stephen is currently working alongside Scripture Union Scotland on a substantial redevelopment of their outdoor Christian retreat centre at Lendrick Muir near Kinross. This facility will offer much needed additional sleeping accommodation with associated lounge and activity spaces, admin/ storage, kitchen and dining for up to 200 people and spaces. The project also seeks to address wider accessibility issues within the main building.
In addition to the above, Stephen was formerly a trustee of Kingdom Vineyard Church in St Andrews. Having held this position for over ten years he understands the nature and complexity of this type of organisation and can bring this knowledge to.
Supporting Stephen within the sector is Chris Berridge. Chris is a talented designer who can bring a sensitivity required to these types of facilities. He is currently working with Stephen at Lendrick Muir and has recently been working with Crow Road Church in Glasgow on their redevelopment works.
